About Folki

Folki is an independent community game set in the fictional Folki Bay neighborhood, inspired by Calgary. Roads and addresses are adapted for gameplay; place names have been fictionalized. Buildings, landscaping, interiors and gameplay are original, approximate interpretations and are not surveys or architectural records.

Virtual homes, jobs, vehicles, currency and resident labels exist only inside the game. They do not show legal ownership, employment or real-world residence.

Folki is not affiliated with or endorsed by Brookfield Residential, the City of Calgary, any residents association, local school boards or businesses represented by generic in-game locations.

Terms of Use

Effective September 17, 2026. You must be old enough to consent to these terms in your jurisdiction, or use the game with a parent or guardian’s permission. Use a respectful display name and do not harass players, impersonate people, cheat, interfere with the service or upload unlawful material. Chat and display names are visible to other players.

Your device profile provides a revocable licence to use Folki. Bay Coins and all virtual homes, cars and clothing have no cash value and create no rights in real property. Features, prices and availability may change while the game is being developed.

Your photographs

Upload only a photograph you took and have the right to share. Do not upload internet images, recognizable people or children, readable licence plates, private interiors or material captured while trespassing. By uploading, you give the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, secure, resize, review and use the photograph to operate and improve Folki, including creating an approximate 3D interpretation. You keep ownership of your photograph.

You may delete your uploaded source photographs from the photo privacy page. A non-photographic 3D model already created from general observations may remain unless it infringes your rights; use the removal procedure below for a specific concern.

The service is provided as available during development. These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Alberta, Canada. Material may be removed and accounts may be restricted to protect players, rights holders and the service.

Privacy Policy

Effective September 17, 2026. Folki stores a device profile cookie, character name and appearance, chat, in-game position, inventory, virtual purchases, wallet history, event and job progress, security logs and any photograph you choose to upload. This information is used to operate multiplayer play, save progress, prevent abuse, review photographs and maintain the service.

Other players can see your character name, appearance, nearby movement, chat and virtual vehicle or home association. They do not receive your session token, network address or uploaded source photograph. Source photographs and paired game views are available only to their uploader and authorized reviewers through access-controlled endpoints. EXIF metadata is removed during processing.

Information is retained while needed for the game, security, accounting and legal obligations. Reasonable access controls and private storage are used. Data is not sold. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process limited data to operate the service.

Optional Google sign-in

If you connect Google, we receive and store your Google account identifier and verified email address to reconnect you to your chosen game character. Your email is not shown to other players. We do not request access to Gmail, contacts, files or your Google password. Google handles sign-in under its own privacy policy; access tokens are used only during sign-in and are not retained.

If two characters are available, you choose which one to link and confirm again. Money and possessions are not merged. The other character is not deleted, but replacing its Google connection means it can only be accessed from browsers already connected to it. Short-lived connection cookies and security records protect this process.

Delete or challenge material

Use the photo privacy page linked below to permanently delete every source photograph uploaded by your current device profile. This does not remove earned wallet history or approximate game geometry. For a photograph, name, address association or model that affects your rights, identify the location and concern to the game administrator; the material will be reviewed and removed or corrected where appropriate.

When moving from the original game address, a short-lived, single-use, browser-bound connection code links your existing device profile to game.folkibay.com. It expires after two minutes. The website does not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.

Data & software licences

Road centre lines, roof outlines, parcel addresses, schools, public trees, traffic signs, playground locations and other municipal datasets contain information licensed under the Open Government Licence – City of Calgary ↗.

Selected map geometry is based on © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database Licence. Folki’s additional game code and approximate models are independent additions.

3D rendering uses Three.js under the MIT License ↗. Weather observations are provided by Open-Meteo ↗ under its applicable plan and CC BY 4.0 data terms. The free endpoint is used only while Folki is non-commercial; a commercial plan is required before subscriptions, advertising or another commercial launch. No licensor or data provider endorses Folki.

Website illustrations

Original AI-generated concept illustrations were created for FolkiBay. They are promotional artwork, not screenshots of the playable alpha. The game’s current appearance and features may differ.

Material removal

Your uploaded source photographs: open photo privacy in the browser linked to your character. The page asks for confirmation before permanently deleting your source photos. Earned wallet history and existing non-photographic models are retained.

Other material or rights concerns: contact the game administrator, Sergey, through the neighborhood chat. Identify the house address, item or material and explain what needs review. Do not put private documents or sensitive personal information in the public chat. The administrator can arrange the next steps and review removal or correction.
